Four giant statues of Ramses II sit on either side of the entrance to the largest temple at Abu Simbel. Each 65-foot-tall [20-meters-tall] pharaoh weighs almost 2 1/2 million pounds [933,100 kilograms] — the weight of 170 elephants.
