Harlem Jazz Club

Gran Teatre del Liceu
One of the finest opera houses in Europe, built in 1847, mostly destroyed in a 1994 fire, now restored to its 19th-century splendor. Season runs late September-July. Palau de la Música Catalana
Domènech i Montaner’s architectural masterpiece (see Tour #3), a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a venue for orchestral, chamber, and choral music, but also performances like the San Francisco Jazz Collective and the Festival Flamenco de Barcelona. Luz de Gas
Concert venue in a restored old music hall; the acoustics are still said to be outstanding. “A favorite with local people,” notes Juan Montenegro, editor in chief, b-guided lifestyle and fashion quarterly, “because they tend to book Catalan and Spanish groups.” Programming leans to soul, Dixieland jazz, blues, 1960s classic rock: a different theme for each night of the week.
