Handicrafts
India-wide handicrafts are found citywide; recommended outlets include the Central Cottage Industries Emporium (34 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg, Colaba; tel. +91 22 22026564. www.cottageemporiumindia.com), The Bombay Store (Sir P Mehta Road, Fort; tel. +91 22 22885048. www.bombaystore.com), and the various State Government Emporiums (many at either the World Trade Center Arcade [near Cuffe Parade] or along Sir P Mehta Road, Fort).

Handmade Paper Products
For authentic handmade paper products (from stationary to photo frames) don’t miss two excellent places: Bombay Paperie (59 Bombay Samachar Marg, Fort; tel. +91 22 66358171. www.bombaypaperie.com) and Chimanlals (210 Dr. DN Road, Fort; tel. +91 22 22077717. www.chimanlals.com).

Jewelry
Mumbai has loads of jewelry shops selling regionally diverse pieces, from chunky Rajasthani necklaces to delicate South Indian glass bangles. Most of the government emporiums (see Handicrafts, listed earlier) stock quality pieces, while Zaveri Bazaar (not far from famous Crawford Market on the corner of Dr. DN and Lokmanya Tilak Rds.) has a bevy of competitively priced jewelry shops.

Textiles
Textiles from around the country can be widely found throughout Mumbai; for quality khadi (homespun cloth), try the Khadi & Village Industries Emporium (286 Dr. DN Road, Fort; tel. +91 22 33073288). Reputable handmade textile stores (selling garments, bed/table linen, cushion covers and the like) include Fabindia (for Mumbai branches see www.fabindia.com) and Soma (16 Madame Cama Road, Colaba; tel. +91 22 22826050. www.somashop.com).
