Soaptree yuccas soak up morning light in southern New Mexico. Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument in southern New Mexico was established in May 2014, adding to the U.S.'s impressive total of 758 wilderness areas in 44 states—a total of 110 million acres.
