Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Siberia, Russia

A dense growth of cotton grass fills a bog in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District in Siberia, Russia. Not a grass at all, this marsh perennial with the deceptively delicate-looking tufts grows abundantly in the Arctic tundra, where few other plants thrive.
