Rath Yatra Festival, India

Photograph by Abir Choudhury, National Geographic Your Shot

Women dance in the street during Rath Yatra, a Hindu celebration that's also known as the Festival of Chariots, in this photo submitted to a recent Your Shot Travelogue assignment. One of the largest religious festivals in India, Rath Yatra's elaborate parades and processions commemorate a mid-summer chariot journey made by Lord Jagganath—from whose name is derived the English word "juggernaut."
