Benbulben Mountain, Ireland

Photograph by Krinitz, laif/Redux

In northwestern Ireland, the table-topped Benbulben dominates the landscape for 50 miles. Its sheer, wrinkled cliffs drop down to a great skirt of green that slants down to fields below. Poet W. B. Yeats roamed all over the mountain as a boy, writing about it in "The Tower."
