Louvre Pyramid, Paris

Architect I. M. Pei's glass pyramid, which created space, light, and a much needed main entrance for the world famous museum, was unveiled in 1989 as part of a huge "Grand Louvre" modernization project. The addition shocked many when it was first made public, but it has since become a part of the Paris landscape.
