Orcas, Northern Norway

Photograph by Koen Hoekemeijer, National Geographic Your Shot

Orcas—also known as killer whales—come up for air in choppy waters off northern Norway. Partitioned by mountains and boasting a fjord-gashed shoreline, Norway draws its strength from the sea. If you hammered the country's 63,000 miles of fjords, bays, and island shores into a single line, it would circle the planet two and a half times.
