Rialto Bridge, Venice
Photograph by Glaescher, laif/Redux
A gondola glides along the Grand Canal of Venice, heading for the Rialto Bridge. Situated at the canal's narrowest point, the bridge was for centuries the only way across the canal. The current span, the most recent of several, was completed in 1590.
