Sami Reindeer Herders, Sweden

Photograph by Lola Akinmade Akerstrom, National Geographic

Decked in traditional clothing, Sami reindeer herders prepare to leave for a winter fair in Sweden. The Sami's homeland spreads across northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Herders follow the migrations of the reindeer as they move from winter grazing grounds to cooler areas during the summer months.
