San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Photograph by Alex Visbal, National Geographic Your Shot

Traditional dancers perform in San Miguel de Allende's main square, Plaza Allende. Abutting the plaza is the city's most cherished icon, the 19th-century La Parroquía de San Miguel Arcángel, which a local untrained stone cutter is supposed to have designed after looking at postcards of French Gothic cathedrals.
