Sal Island, Cape Verde

On Sal, one of Cape Verde's ten islands, sunseekers and surfers take advantage of its Atlantic Ocean location. Off the coast of West Africa, Cape Verde was uninhabited until the islands were discovered by the Portuguese in 1456.
