Surfing, Hawaii

Photograph by Jack Dekort

Onlookers watch from Oahu, Hawaii's north shore as a surfer goes momentarily airborne. Nearly eight million tourists visit Hawaii each year; the majority spend their vacation on Oahu, rarely leaving the beach quarter of Waikiki that serves as the economic driver of the island, and the state. "I named this shot 'The Running Man,'" writes photographer Jack Dekort, "after the famous eighties cult dance move."
