Hamar Woman, Ethiopia

In southern Ethiopia's Omo River Valley, the pastoralist Hamar people have thrived, becoming one of the region's largest tribes. (Here, a Hamar woman wears her hair in traditional red-dyed braids.) For their success, the Hamar thank the rain, which feeds their cattle and crops.
