Making up the heel of Italy's boot, the region of Puglia is home to ancient vineyards, medieval castles, white-sand beaches, and the cone-roofed trullo dwellings of Alberobello, seen here. Alberobello's fanciful trulli date back to the mid-14th century and have been named a UNESCO World Heritage site.
