30 Years in Pictures
Celebrate National Geographic Traveler's first three decades with flashes from the past.
Two jewelry peddlers wear veils to attract the attention of customers in Marrakech’s medina, or old town. Younger Moroccans typically prefer Western dress now, wearing traditional clothing only on special occasions. This photograph appeared in "Out of This World in Morocco," a story in the winter 1988-89 edition of Traveler magazine.
Senior photo editor Carol Enquist and associate photo editor Ben Fitch discuss the image and what makes it so powerful.
