Tarifa, SpainA traveler takes in an extraordinary sight, though perhaps not uncommon in the Punta Paloma sand dunes in Tarifa, Spain: a tree overwhelmed by sand. The windy town of Tarifa, located on Spain's southernmost tip, on the Strait of Gibraltar, is popular among lovers of wind-powered watersports (think windsurfing and kitesurfing) and just a 30-minute ferry ride from Morocco.
