Countryside
Photo and caption by Miguel Costa, My Shot
While driving from the southern part of Portugal to Lisbon, I spotted this picturesque field by the roadside, but I had no time to pull over. So I quickly grabbed my camera and just had time to take this shot through the open window in my car, at a speed of about 80km/h. Luckily I got perfect framing and light exposure.

Silver Coast
Photo and caption by Miguel Costa, My Shot
The Portuguese Silver Coast is stunningly beautiful, with wide golden stretches of unmarked sand, turquoise sea and rolling countryside. This picture was taken at one of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast, near Sao Pedro de Moel village. The region is truly an unspoiled gem, with its unique natural beauty. You can drive for miles along the coast and still find yourself on a completely deserted stretch of beach.

I took this picture in an old town in the south of Portugal this year, and as I got to speaking with her, she told me that she has been doing this for well over 40 years.

Douro River
Photo and caption by Martinho Costa, My Shot
This photo was taken by a Nikon D3000 with a 18 55 VR lens in Gaia, Portugal. These boats use to carry the Oporto wine barrels from the Douro region wine farms. Nowadays, they are only for tourism purposes and to show younger generations how the Oporto wine was carried from other regions to the place where it aged.

Frog, Oporto

Photo of a common frog in Oporto, in the city park. Curiously, it was perfectly still and allowed me to come close enough almost to touch her.

Cabo da Roca
Photo and caption by Thomas Morton, My Shot
This is one of the interesting shorelines we encountered on a two-week tour of Portugal by car. Its located west of Lisbon, in the Sintra area, rising out of the Atlantic Ocean. Cabo Da Roca is the westernmost point in Portugal. From the rugged shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the beaches of the Algarve, Portugal was an amazing subject to photograph.

Praia do Evaristo
Photo and caption by Sandy Lunitz, My Shot
The image was captured in the fading light of a stormy day on the Portuguese south coast, the Algarve. Waves were rolling in, very powerful, and there was salty spray in the air, covering the equipment within minutes, but I was so amazed by the light.

Algarve
Photo and caption by Sandy Lunitz, My Shot
I was traveling to the Alentejo, the quiet area above the Algarve, to capture nature awakening. There is only a little time to capture the green and colorful side of the Alentejo—within weeks everything turns grey. The temperature in the summer can reach more than 45°C.

Alentejo
Photo and caption by Miguel Costa, My Shot
After driving for hours in the southern part of Portugal (Alentejo region), right before sunset I finally pulled over by the road side to take a shot of this amazing show of colors reflected in the menacing clouds at a short distance. Right after taking just a few pictures, it started raining like I've never seen before, and everything went dark grey.
