Ystad, Sweden
Photograph by Fredrik Ekblad, My Shot
In Ystad, a small town in the very south of Sweden, the old fire brigade arranges a spray parade the first Saturday in August every year. This is a wet and fun tradition that dates back 168 years. The spray ritual, which takes place in the main square, is regarded as a kind of baptism. If you've not done this, you can't call yourself a true citizen!

Shot taken in Denmark on December 19, 2009. I was driving in my car on a very cold day, and I had to stop and shoot this scenario as the sun went down. It just all worked together to produce this warm shot, although it was one of the coldest days so far in 2009.

This photo was taken in the village of Lungre in northern Sweden. It is of a church from the 12th century that is still in use today. I was taking photographs of the starry skies in the village and this church seemed like a good setting for something as timeless as the stars.

Lofoten, Norway
Photograph by Camilla Wejdemar, My Shot
I took this picture from the popular view in Reine, Lofoten, Norway. I saw the weather changing from the kitchen window, so I grabbed the camera and ran out. I managed to take five, six pictures before the special light was gone again. The weather never stops to amaze me here in Lofoten. It can change so quickly, and sometimes you can have four seasons in one hour.

Geysir, Iceland
Photograph by Stamen Stanev, My Shot
This is Geysir, an area of high geothermal activity in Iceland. Abundant in erupting hot springs in the not-so-distant past, nowadays, sadly, only three active geysers remain. The Icelanders are proud, though, that this area gave its name to all the geysers in the world.

Geothermal Spring, Iceland
Photograph by Carolyn Centeno, My Shot
This geothermal pool is located in the middle of a black lava field in northeast Iceland. The heated water comes directly from the earth into the pool and contains numerous minerals and healing properties. Icelandic people soak in the pool under the rain and snow, socializing in the warmth of the water. The phenomenon of the geothermal pool is essential to the social and physical Icelandic landscape.
