Street Scene, Hanoi
Photograph by Lesley Williamson, My Shot
Crossing the road in Hanoi, Vietnam, is an adventure in itself! The key is to walk slowly and let the bikes part around you. It's certainly not for the fainthearted. I spotted this street, aptly named Hang Bac, and stopped for a while to watch people confidently cross like seasoned pros.

Child in Village
Photograph by Kimberley Coole, My Shot
After travelling around northern Vietnam I began to notice how the children in tribal areas often congregated around their doorways. The image was one I immediately wanted to capture, as I felt it best showed normal daily life in the villages. This particular image was taken in a Red Dao village near Sapa. I had decided to walk around the village and try to find the ideal place to capture the shot, and there she was, standing in her doorway, exactly the way I had hoped for.

Photograph by Mederick Guedon, My Shot
The Hmong are the eighth largest ethnic minority in Vietnam. They are famous for their embroidery and also batik, which is in evidence in the wide variety of costumes worn by the various branches. Each Hmong branch has certain characteristics, but there is also a huge variation in clothing from one district to another. Flower Hmong of Lao Cai Province are undoubtedly the most colourful of all branches of Hmong to be seen in Vietnam.
