Tourists in Pretoria, South Africa, pose for pictures in front of a statue of revered political leader Nelson Mandela. South African president Jacob Zuma unveiled the 30-foot-tall bronze statue on December 16, 2013, at the Union Buildings in Pretoria a day after Mandela was laid to rest. The Union Buildings once stood as a symbol for apartheid; Mandela used them as his office when he was elected president in 1994, and they came to represent the nation’s democracy.
