Lunch on Balnahard beach one beautiful afternoon in early Spring 2011

My girlfriend and I had walked through hills and heather on an old farm track on the Hebridean isle of Colonsay, to reach this beautiful beach at the north east end of the island, which looks across the sea to the mountainous island of Jura. We had met no one on our walk. Our companions were skylarks and wild geese, oyster catchers and corncrake. As we descended from the hill across the beautiful machair filled with wild flowers just pushing through, the clouds parted and the sun filled our whole sky. We ran down to the white beach and stood in bare feet and laughed. She threw an apple to me.
