If eyes could speak

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by heather Dorsey

This photo was taken in the bead market in Sulaymaniyah Iraq, in the northern Kurdish region of the country. This man was working in the bead market amongst others stringing prayer beads. I was immediately drawn to his eyes. They were so clear as though they were holding the stories and secrets of the conflicted area and the history rich in turmoil. Stories lived by the people and subjected to the land.

Location: Sulaymaniyah Kurdistan Iraq
