The Red Pants of Venice

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Brittany Lukowsky

My mom and I were running late and rushing through the back streets of Venice on our way to the train station when I glanced to my left and was struck by the beauty of this everyday scene. The bright red pants in the distance caught my eye and I snapped a shot and hurried to make the train. Looking back, this is my favourite photo from the whole trip. For me, the beauty of Venice is found away from the famous bridges, piazzas and bustling crowds; it is here in the everyday lives of Venetians.

Location: Cannareggio District, Venice, Italy
