First Light

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Stephen Blinn

For centuries, mariners plying the coastal waters of New England were dependent upon hundreds of lights dotting our rocky shores, which stood guard over life, property, and commerce. Although their necessity has waned in this era of GPS enabled navigation, these beacons remain beautiful reminders of our seafaring heritage.

Location: Cape Neddick Light, York, Maine
