Tillandsias in nature

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by jackie reynolds

This Tillandsia is in the family of Bromeliads, along with pineapple and orchids. All of these plants are epiphytes. They have little in the way of roots and get the nutrients required for photosynthesis in the air. That is why they are called air plants.

Location: Belize--Pine Ridge Forest Preserve
