Robin chicks Waiting for Dinner

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by Kathryn Blankenship

Just outside my window, amongst the thorny stems of a climbing rose, a robin built her nest and bore two blue eggs. The eggs hatched. As the nest is below my window, I was able to push aside the protective thorny baracade to photo the new baby robins. The rustle of my overhead positioning woke them up and they both excitedly opened their beaks wide, anticipating their meal. In a moment, they decided none was coming and they folded back into eachother again. In the meanwhile, I was able to catch this unique vantage point from above of them in their nest.
