The steppe lake is situated between the easternmost parts of the Alps and the western part of the Small Hungarian Plain. The national border between Austria and Hungary cuts right through this natural region famous for its bird habitats and savana like sunsets. It is only 1 hour away from Vienna and a popular retreat and birdwatching spot.
