Seaweed Farmer at Low Tide in Zanzibar

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Laura Grier

Seaweed Farmers can only work at low tide and this woman, wearing her traditional Tanzanian garb, works hard in the gorgeous emerald green waters off the coast of Zanzibar. I had to walk almost a mile out into the ocean barefoot and dodging stepping on Sea Anemonies and other creatures, to take this shot.

Location: Zanzibar Island, Tanzania
