Points North Aurora
Category: Outdoor Scenes
Photo and caption by Grant Kaye
This is an image from the middle of an 8-hour overnight motion controlled timelapse of the aurora borealis over the Orca Inlet, Nelson Bay, Cordova, Alaska. There were no aurora in the sky when I set up my camera and started the timelapse - you can imagine my surprise when I checked out the results in the morning. The next night, I was able to see them with my naked eye for the first time in a small window of time before a snowstorm came in, and they were spectacular.
Location: Nelson Bay, Orca Inlet, Cordova, Alaska
