A Thought

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Paul Carr

My work filming the divided island of Cyprus took me to Kyrenia - a small community on the northern coast of Cyprus. In 1974, Turkish troops landed, occupied, and ethnically cleansed the region of Greek Cypriots. Kyrenia has been under Turkish rule ever since. This lighthouse overlooks the town's harbor. It is an interesting thought to know that not so long ago, bodies lined the now tourist filled streets.

Location: Kyrenia, Cyprus
