Moses and his Octopus

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Cheryl Mair

Anchored in a remote bay in the Haipai region of Tonga we met this remarkable gentleman Moses. His family fished these parts and had a bush camp on the back of the Island. The specialty was octopus! Caught on a homemade lure made from a cowrie shell, some fencing wire and a beer can shreaded into strips it proved very effective as there were many of these slippery creatures tangled around his feet!

Location: The Haipai, Kingdom of Tonga
