Sunlit Cairn

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by Judith Morgan

All over Chile, people like to mark their visit with a small cairn of stones. I had spent the afternoon in Valle de la Luna, the driest part of the driest desert in the world, the Atacama. I had been looking forward to shooting the sunset, but it was very overcast. Suddenly, the sun broke through the clouds, illuminating both a cairn and the backdrop of not so extinct volcanoes.
