A large number of red-crowned cranes live in the Kushiro Shitsugen National Park (Kushiro Mire). It is the crane’s main breeding area in Japan and where most of the cranes in Japan congregate in the winter. I tried to capture the in flight cranes while they flew away from me, with the snowy & colorful woodland as a back drop that leave a lasting impression. This species is classified as Endangered because its population continues to decline owing to loss and degradation of wetlands through conversion to agriculture and industrial development.
