On the Rocks

We had a day to ourselves in American Samoa, off of the ship on which we work, and hiked to a blow hole on quieter part of the island. Between a small pool filled with water and the Pacific was a ledge of basalt. But when a swell came through the peaceful ledge and still pool turned into a slick and dangerous terrain with few safe spots. When this first wave came in, he had to make way quickly to the higher part of the ledge, jump up and hang on, and I snapped a quick shot.
