Love on Five Legs

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by Ashley Forrest

Mosha, the lovable three-legged landmine victim touches her trunk to her keeper's nose in a private moment in her pen at Friends of the Asian Elephant (FAE) hospital in Lampang, Thailand. After losing her leg in a landmine accident at a very early age, Mosha now walks with a prosthetic with the help of her young and attentive keeper, who dotes on her affectionately around the clock. I hope that this photo can convey (even slightly) the endless love and dedication of the staff of FAE in protecting these gentle but vulnerable giants (and national symbol of Thailand).

Location: FAE Elephant Hospital, Lampang, Thailand
