Skull

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Anders Backman

This skeleton is in a sacrificial cave in Potosi, Bolivia. Note the cone shaped head, indicative of the practice of shaping the skulls of the young. There are several theories as to why the indians did this, one of them includes contact with cone headed aliens, whom the indians idolised. The coca leaves and coins indicates more recent sacrifices, proving that this site is still in use.

Location: Potosi, Bolivia
