I never thought I would ever get so close to a wild lion

While searching for lions in Tanzania's Ruaha National park we were nearly on top of this lioness before noticing her. My eyes were searching the horizon for the large predators, not realizing she was only two metres from where I sat in the open jeep. The vegetation is quite dense in the rainy season and locating predators can be challenging. Every one shoved over to the other side of the jeep in a slight panic. Before moving a little towards the other side of the jeep, I nervously took my picture. Seconds later the lioness bolted from her hiding spot. Thankfully not into the jeep.
