My old roommate and I decided to brave driving through the streets of Nairobi one day and head to Nairobi National Park for a self-guided safari. It was a rainy morning, we made a wrong turn and got stuck in the infamous traffic for three hours. So much for our early morning start. When we finally arrived at the park, we were unable to spot much wildlife due to the rain and we were dispirited. After a few hours, the rain stopped, the sun came out and we found ourselves surrounded by zebras as far as the eye could see. Their stripes were mesmerizing and made the journey there well worth it.
