Solitude

Category: Sense of Place

A solitary tumbleweed sits in the silence of the slot canyon. The mid morning light is passing over the Arizona/Utah border. It will be a hot day again. But here in the slot there is protection from the scorching sun and desert heat. The smooth banded walls are cool to the touch and a gentle cool breeze wanders through the waves of rock. The changing light shapes the mood of the canyon. Here, time stops. This place does not know the outside world. The harshness of the outside world are avoided here. Has the tumbleweed come here to escape? To find peace and solitude?

Location: Antelope Canyon
