Snorkeling with a Humpback

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by Brandi Mueller

While on a scuba diving trip in Turks and Caicos this solitary juvenile male humpback whale came very close to the boat and stayed there for several hours. Finally our group decided to see if we jumped in with snorkels if the whale would stay. We jumped in and the whale looked at us, swam underneath the whole group and met us all eye-to-eye. Then he slowly swam away. It was magical.

Location: Turks and Caicos
