Dev Bhoomi - The Land of the Gods

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Arpan Dan

Taken at Haridwar, India. It is an evening at the Har ki Paudi Ghat or the banks of the river Ganges as it starts its journey to the plains leaving the Himalayas behind. Haridwar is known as the gateway to Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are the glacial sources of the two major tributaries of the Ganges. Every evening thousands of devotees gather across the banks of the Ganges at Haridwar to enjoy the 'Sandya Arati' or the religious offerings to the river Ganges. Taken around 7pm at 100 ISO with a 1.8 prime lens.

Location: Haridwar, India (Garewal Himalayas)
