Reclining Buddha

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Margaret Farrell

Bangkok's Wat Pho houses the 46 metre long statue of the Reclining Buddha. The 15 metre high golden statue is almost too big for its building. The Buddha's head appears to be superimposed on the beautifully detailed tiles of the pillars supporting the temple roof. Serenity is the keynote.

Location: Wat Pho, Bangkok, Thailand
