Flutes of the Andes

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Margaret Farrell

Flute music is almost synonymous with the Peruvian Andes. Who can forget the haunting strains of El Condor Pasa introduced to the West by Simon and Garfunkel? So there was no way I could pass up the opportunity to photograph this man with pan pipes in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. I found him in the picturesque Andean village of Pisac, which is surrounded by steep terraces and the ruins of important Incan temples and fortifications.

Location: Pisac, Urubamba Valley, Cusco Region, Peru, South America
