Nagano Snow Monkeys

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Hakuei Huang

I travelled to Nagano, Japan in February. The Jigoku-tani, Hell Valley, is famous for hot springs and its wildlife. Most of the local residents have no bath in their household, because hot springs are so common in the area. That is no exception to the snow monkeys. The monkeys enjoy the hot springs throughout the winter and the residents have built a hot spring specifically for the monkeys. When I was photos of them, I was very amazed by so many characteristics that they share with us.

Location: Nagano, Japan
