A bicycle leans against the wall in the afternoon heat in front of a mosque in Diu Island, India. Diu and Daman were Portuguese colonies on the Arabian Sea coast of Gujarat for more than 400 years. A stunning architectural legacy remains, along with a diverse population of Muslims, Hindus and Christians in the former spice-trading outposts.
