Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Margaret Farrell

Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and Wat Xieng Thong is its most celebrated temple. The former Kings of Laos were crowned and granted their power at Wat Xieng Thong, which also houses the funeral carriage of the last king. The beautifully carved window shutter pays homage to the dead king.

Location: Wat Xieng Thong, Luang Prabang, Laos
