Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá (Neither from here, nor there)

Category: Sense of Place

As the song says, “Home is where the heart is” but if the heart does not stay still where can home be? From age five to eleven an engulfing valley in Colombia saw me fall and bruise myself with every outdoor game. Eleven years have passed since I left my childhood mountains. Today, I can say that my home is in the US, but I find myself looking for ways to converge my two living experiences. As the emotional distance created by time, space and culture grows, I fight it with my camera. Through an image made in Colombia projected onto my US surroundings I create my own definition of home.

Location: East Boston, MA, USA. Projected Image: Medellin, Colombia
