The Cuban version of the girl from Afghanistan

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Dharma Cortes

I was in Havana, Cuba walking by the malecon, when I stopped to talk with a group of local fishermen. One of them caught my attention. His eyes and face reminded me of the famous National Geographic "girl from Afghanistan" photo. I asked him if I could take his picture. At first he was hesitant, but then he said yes. I promised to take only two shots. This is my favorite one.

Location: Havana, Cuba
